Leesburg Kiwanis Halloween Parade

Each October 31 since 1957, the Leesburg Kiwanis have sponsored the Halloween Parade down King Street in Leesburg.

The 2008 parade was spectacular! Over 120 police, and fire and rescue units, high school marching bands, floats, horseback riders, walkers, decorated vehicles, politicians, and others passed out candy as they paraded down the 1-mile route on King Street from Ida Lee Park to the Virginia Village Shopping Center. These units, and many viewers, donated over a thousand pounds of food and hundreds of dollars to Loudoun InterFaith Relief.

In 2006, Town of Leesburg Chief of Police John Price estimated the crowd at about 15,000.

This year's grand marshal is to be determined.

Information for Parade Watchers

Come out and view the parade on Halloween evening, rain or shine. Here's what you need to know:

  • Bring a non-perishable food item to contribute to Loudoun Interfaith Relief food pantry. Collection boxes will be located along King Street at major congregating points.
  • Park nearby to view the parade in the center of town.
  • Crowds form along King Street at the start near Ida Lee Park, the intersection of King and Market Streets, and at the end at Safeway. For a better view, pick a spot in between those points. (Viewing near the end is alright—there is still plenty of candy being passed out.)
  • Note: King Street closes between Battlefield Parkway and Catoctin Circle at 5:30 PM.

The Leesburg Kiwanis thank the local sponsors (Brothers Signal, Self Storage Plus, Sign-a-Rama of Leesburg) and civic partners (Goose Creek Kiwanis Club, Leesburg Lions, Loudoun County and Heritage High School Key Clubs) that help us.
